Demarcus Briers

I am a Biology major at Prairie View A&M University . I am also a Spanish Language minor and Chemistry Minor. I currently design and program utilizing C++, CSS , Javascript, and PHP. When I graduate I intend on going to a graduate school where I will be able to incorporate computer science and biology. In the meantime I will be living and learning as a college student(the fun part).

The Properties of Water We Cant Live Without

Is there a coincidence that the most abundant molecule on earth (water) has special properties that we could not live without. Water has the amazing ability to: absorb heat without changing temperature remain more dense than its solid counterpart (ice) and pull neighboring water molecules as its sucked up the roots of plants Here is an explanation why we can not live without these special properties of …

Passive vs Active Transport Simplified

Overview The simple difference between passive transport and active transport is the energy source they use to move molecules across a membrane.
Let Us Compare,Passive Transport,Active Transport Needs Cellular Energy,No,Yes Source of Energy, Concentration Gradient, ATP or Concentration Gradient Direction of Flow, High to Low Concentration,Low to High Concentration
Passive Transport Passive Transport takes no energy and moves …

What is Active Transport Simplified

Primary Active Transport

Active Transport can be simplified if you understand that it is the opposite process of  what cells can do without using energy. Without using energy chemical substances can freely move from higher to lower concentrations (passive transport). Active Transport on the other hand must use energy to move chemical substances from lower to higher concentrations. 2 types of Active Transport The two types …

What is Facilitated Diffusion Simplified

Facilitated diffusion can be simplified if you think of its definition as a form of passive transport. Being a form of passive transport, facilitated diffusion can transport molecules from a high concentration to a low concentration using membrane proteins (without using energy). The name  “facilitated”  tells you that this diffusion process will have some help moving molecules across the membrane. This is achieved with …

What is Passive Transport Simplified

PassiveTransport

Passive Transport refers to the movement of chemical substances across a membrane without the use of energy. We usually refer to passive transport as the movement of molecules across the membrane of cells. For relatively small molecules, they can freely travel through the membrane in a process known as diffusion. Larger molecules can still travel across the membrane but they must bind to special transport proteins …
